11/18 blog post make up

This week there was a school shooting at an elementary school, some were around 30 kids were killed as a result. This is the world we live in, are you scared? They say a kid suicide’s every few seconds. What is the cause? People should really stop acting so negative towards others, because no one ever expects something like a school shooting or a suicide and yet it still happens. Life is unpredictable and you may think, well why should I care, I can’t make a difference. But who cares, just do it for your honor, your pride, and your integrity. My question, why would you want to do anything other than treat people like they are human? What is the point in, picking fun at someone one at the cost of depression? Everyday people hurt their brother, their sister, or their even their own friends, and at what cost? To hurt someone, without thinking why, it is pointless and stupid in my opinion. Have you ever heard the statement, “life is what you make it”? Well it is true, if you wanted to you could make a difference, you could be great, you could be someone’s hero and it really isn’t that hard.

10/28 make up post

My essay this week is about how, to lessen individuality you also lessen the destructive nature of humanity. It talks about how, if everyone has their own choice it could create problems in a society; that if you were to have your will over the will of another it might hurt someone. That also means that if everyone followed the will of a single person, that there would be less contention, less danger, and less confusion. The essay is about how in, The Giver by Lois Lowry and Anthem by Ayn Rand, they have a crazy utopian society. In The Giver they kill people who make costly mistakes, and the worst part is that not a single citizen has a clue about it. In Anthem there is no such thing as “I”, just we and if you mention ego you might just get burned at the stake. In Anthem you might even be whipping, that’s right lashings over and over again. But in reality their citizen’s never rebel, they are well behaved, literally whipped. So my question is, if you were a citizen that just found out that your community killed people, or that the leaders were all corrupt, would you even rebel or would the fear of death stop you?

7th weekly blog

Today I am starting this weeks blog... as for the subject, life in highschool. Woke up this morning hopped in the shower, brushed my teeth, put on smell good and a fresh pair of clothes, and it's out the door I go. When I get to school, I have only minutes left to get the things out of my locker and get to class. First class pyshics, the hardest class and even hard, is the fact that it is still morning and I just woke up. Although the teacher makes sense, I just can't seem to focus. Second period, seminary or release time it's ok but the teacher makes you feel guilty for everything. Next I'm on to third period, weight training the best time of the morning, the only physical class in the morning. Fourth I go history, we usually go through the book fast pick up most everything, then watch a movie or a documentary on what we just learned. Lunch awesome!!! Fifth hour pretty good, really rewarding. Sixth, adult roles which is the most entertianing class...(p.s. we are perverts). the last one is just P.E. nothing to bad, nothing to good either.

6th weekly blog

So it is drug free week at my school, and we do all these weird things like mix match day and pajama day. Anyways I have no school spirit, and there are maybe ten people that even dress up. My teachers dress up, sadly they look like dork and they kind of hate it, from what I have heard. But they keep doing it, you see it is like a tradition, ever sense before I could remember they have done it. Anyways we all made this pledge to be drug free haha, they bribed us with cookies. Even though people in my school do drugs, everyone gets cookies. Drug free week seems a little silly in the high school, because there is almost nothing very serious or touching, so we all ignore it if we can. The high school is full of people that ignore the idea of being a good person, and just do what ever they want, because no one will stop them from ruining their life. Drug free week really does not do anything in our school, number one because we have to make the decisions ourselfs, secondly we just get made mad at the idea of anyone telling us what to do.

Relationships are fragile is the theme that links, woman hollering creek by Sandra Cisneros, what you pawn I will redeem by Sherman Alexie, and clothes by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. In woman hollering creek, she has an abusive husband, that she eventually escapes. What you pawn I will redeem is about a homeless Indian drunk, trying to get nine hundred and ninety nine dollars to by his grandmas pow-wow dance regalia. Clothes is about a woman getting a husband from an arranged marriage and then her husband gets killed, while working at a seven eleven in the middle of the night. All of these stories, in one way or another proves that relationships are fragile. So that is what my essay is about, how each relationship ends in these stories and why.

In woman hollering creek by Sandra Cisneros, the relationship is ruined by anger and confusion. For example, "A hot welt across the cheek.” She could forgive that. But what stung more was the fact it was her book, a love story by Corin Tellado, what she loved most."(pg 602). This proves that not only is she confused, but this man is angry at something and takes it out on his wife. Thus proving the fact that relationships are fragile, one bad thing can end that relationship.

Woman hollering creek is a prime example of what happens in today’s society, For example, “This poor lady’s got black-and-blue marks all over. I’m not kidding. From her husband.” (pg 603). This is common in relationships today, the end in abuse and confusion. Someone is always trying to gain more control over their own spouse. The other essentially losing out on what may be a great experience, and experience called marriage. But that just what happens and usually no one will put an end to it.

In the second story, what you pawn I will redeem, you can see that power and greed, can block the relationship between a man and a woman. For example, “ Jackson Jackson,” she said. “Have you come back to claim my heart?” I won a free ticket,” I said.” (pg 447).  In this example you can clearly see that all this guy is after is a ticket, an item, and a chance to get money. You can see that this one man did not come to see that girl, because he came out of greed. The girl may even wonder why she should bother flirting with this guy.

In what you pawn I will redeem you may also see what she thinks about men. “Just like a man", she said. “You love money and power more than you love me.” (pg 447). This statement proves that although she is not mad at him, she is disappointed with him. For some reason this guy just ignores the girl and keeps going on with his own business. He even seems unfazed by what this woman has just said.

All this guy says is, “It’s true,” I said. “And I’m sorry it’s true.” (pg 447). This guy seems to believe that he has no faults that in fact she is talking about someone else. He even says he is sorry, but even then makes no effort to fix his problems. He admits that men are just power hungry, and always looking for money, when it isn’t even true. He lets greed get in the way of love, he wants his money and that’s it.

Now in the third story, Clothes we see that the only problem people cannot fix is if their spouse dies. “Someone came into the store last night. He took all the money, even the little rolls of pennies I had helped Somesh make up. Before he left he emptied the bullets from his gun into my husband’s chest.” (pg 30).  She cannot bring him back and make everything better. He is dead, and dead he will stay. She is now without the love of this man.

You can see that there is no possible way to reignite their love. She is now forced to move on or live without a lover for the rest of her natural born life. It is sad when something like this happens, with no way to get back what she has lost, never to see him again. It is very tragic, a heart breaking tale of two people madly in love, and their relationship cut short. Tell death do we part; now she must part, but how, that is the question.

In clothes you might notice that her husband wants to live no matter what happens, at any cost even all the money and his business. “I can picture his silhouette against the lighted Dewar’s sign, hands raised. He is trying to find the right expression to put on his face, calm, reassuring, reasonable. OK, take the money. No, I won’t call the police.” (pg 31). He just wants to make it through the night, to get back to his wife. He does not even know what to do in this moment. He can’t even find the right look to give the guy.

Relationships can die off with ease, you can block the love, and who knows maybe it never excited. In conclusion you may know now that it takes a lot to keep the flame of love alive. Life is too short to let a few petty little problems get in the way of your happiness. Relationships are a good thing when you know how to handle them in the right way, otherwise it can literary cause you more pain than it is worth. When you give up on your spouse you are saying he I just don’t care about you anymore, you’re just not worth the trouble.

All I am trying to say is don’t stop giving it your  all, because whether you want to are not, chances are that your spouse deserves the better side of you. To make a relationship last you must do whatever it takes to keep the flame alive. There will never be enough love to give to your spouse, but you need to try to give her all you can, and then some.

5th weekly blog

Chunky kids... what does it mean to chunky, maybe it means nothing, maybe it is just others insecurities cast upon you. Truth is many people like to go through out there day picking on others, so those same people can not pick out the many more flaws the bully has. truth be told half of the reason you may be picked on is simply because you are the better person, and you don't want to hurt someone who already has hard time in life. Some of these good people may even think that the very person picking on them is a friend, that just does not know where to draw the line. This can cause problems, because of all the different ways, that someone can come across. The things you do, the things you say, can make a huge difference in someone's life. There are many kinds of people, question is do you want to be that one, that leads someone into deppression, or the one that pulls a person from the very pits of hell into a new place full of hope and love. Everyone deserves to be treaten with respect and with just a little bit of decency.

Response paper for Woman Hollering Creek

Response paper for "Woman Hollering Creek

Today I am writing an essay for my english class, on a book called Woman Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros. The subject is this line, "Felice was like no woman she'd ever met", and wether it is compliment or critisism. But before I get to that here is some background on the book. It links two stories, the legend of the weeping woman, and the story of Cleofilas a woman who struggled in her marrige and got divorced, now she is trying to get back to mexico, to see her parents. Cleofilas thinks she is hearing the voice of the weeping woman guiding her. The legend of the weeping woman goes as follows, a woman got mad at her screaming/crying little kids, so she drowned them in the river, but guilt got to her and out of deppression she drowned herself and her soul haunts the river.

So the reason I think that it was a compliment was, that to me it sounds like the reason for Cleofilas saying this, is that Felice is her only hope. Cleofilas was brave for even listening to, the weeping woman. She was also very unique in the way she handled her situation. She was being abused by her husband. Her husband was not only mean, but cruel. For instance, "A hot welt across the cheek. She could forgive that. But what stung more was the fact it was her book, a love story by Corin Tellado, what she loved the most."pg 602

Clefoilas was a strong woman for having the courage to leave her husband. In her frame of mind her husband was like, unto her master. Her husband had complete control of her, in her mind. Now when we think back to, most domestic violence cases, this is usually what it is like. Cleofilas was also heavily depressed, you can see this from her frame of mind, like a show she watches, " episodes got sadder and sadder."pg 603. She said things like, no happy ending, this is what she says and it puts her in a bad mood or is rather evoked by her bad mood.

I guess you could say Felice is hope to Cleofilas, that Felice is successful and nice too. Because,  "Everything about this woman, this Felice, amazed Cleofilas." Pg 604. Cleofilas, thought she was amazing, because Felice had no husband, but had her own truck and the money to pay for that. Felice was everything Cleofilas needed for a mentor, Felice was what Cleofilas wanted to be. Felice was sooo happy it seemed that she might even be a little crazy.

In conclusion, Cleofilas was down and depressed, looking for a way out. When Felice came into Cleofilas life, it was her hope, and her way out. That line would have been a compliment, considering that Cleofilas had an unexplained love for this woman. Cleofilas was in need and thought it was a big deal to just leave, but Felice did it with ease, and enjoyed helping Cleofilas, who was almost a helpless woman. Cleofilas always had this half hope, half fear attitude to everything she did, and it stopped her from acting for herself, and simply leaving her husband to go back to mexico.

4th Weekly Blog

This is my new weekly blog this time I will discuss the topic of fast food vs. home cooked meals. To start I will go with the pros. Fast food, you don't have to cook, sometimes taste better, fast and easy. Home cooked meals are better for you, cost less, can be anything that you come up with. Now for the cons between the two. Fast food, high cost, fatening, often lower quality, greesy. Home cooked meals, sometimes worse taste, sometimes hard, takes a while. My personal feeling is that I would rather take home cooked meals rather than fast food, mainly because of the quality and cost of fast food. Also home cooked meals are have better taste for people like me, and it is truly alot better for you. When you talk about the taste,it can very depending on who cooks it, and what the food it's self is. For example, if you get a fast food hamburger it is likely to taste better, because first of the cook has the proper tools to cook it, secondly he cooks it alot. But if you were to it a home cook plate of spaghetti, it is just what you would like, and you won't mess it up or burn it.

1st Weekly post

If life is like a box of choclates than which one are you? are you that mint that everyone loves or are you the cherry no one likes. you may just be one of those nasty flavors people pick up on accident, that leaves nothing but a bad taste in there mouth. If you relate yourself to choclates which one do you most likley represent, through your attitude. Are you the nice guy everyone love, maybe you are the annoying guy no one likes. You may just be that vile man that people won't talk to simply because they get nothing but misery from you, and your words. Attitude is you huge you may know this if you have ever struggled with depression. People can be mean, but don't let that get to you. You, yourself could rise above all others to prove your worth, all you need is a good attitude and a little commitment. No one will ever like you if, all you do is  cause problems, that goes to say that people might just enjoy a good conversation with a nice person. Your attitude makes all the difference, and even if you don't like to think it does just look around you. Life is like a box of choclates, in the way, that you are a choclate that others choose to either leave in the packaging or will eat. When you chose a friend it is like choosing a choclate, why the would you want the bad one?

2nd weekly blog

Bordem doth insue. This is a quote by me describing my life, boring. It also describes the way most students feel as they do their work. But you should not feel this way if  it is truley your work. So why then do so many students fall asleep in class, truth be told it is because they didn't get enough sleep or they just don't care to make their work a piece of art. You can make your work a piece of art, through a little thing called word choice. although most go students only make it up as they go, they will you word choice to get the higher grade. For example, "The roses smelt like a crisp spring morning eating away at your nose" some may call that a work of art but I call it word choice, many of the authors today make their storys captivating through the descriptive words that they chose. For example if you read, big books such as Eragon you will see that the author might describe one match burning, and it may take them half of the page to do that. People are drawn more to books in which the author can describe things that they will relate to, because it makes you feel like you are part of the story. Not just simply reading the story, or seeing it through anothers eyes.

My Bro and me

The first time I learned to play baseball my brother was telling me techniques to getting better like for instance, throwing a baseball onto the roof and catching it when it rolled back off that roof. so I did that for what seemed to be the whole day although it was probably only an hour. when I came back I thought man I was doing so good, I was going to do so well. fact of the matter was that it didn’t change a thing. I still sucked. I kept thinking why would keith make me do all that when in reality it wouldn’t change a thing. I was so frustrated that I want, and did it for another hour the next day, and still nothing. So I went to keith and asked him, “why did you do that to me?” you are a jerk, I spent forever doing that and I have nothing to show for it. He simply replied, “ Is that my fault?” The longer i thought the more I realized that it was not his fault. in all reality it was mine and I was blaming heim for something i did, or the lack there of. In all reality he had every right to be mad at me. So I just thought what could it hurt, for days I went to my backyard and threw the ball on the roof catching time, after time again, and again. till eventually i learned to actually fet under the ball and could therefore catch it with ease. The next thing he taught me was how to throw the ball nice and level, then catch it when it came back. to do this I would throw the ball at the wall of the garage.I use to always go out there and pich the brick theat lined up with my shoulder. I would try to hit that certian brick everytime, and catch it beforeit hit the ground. it kept me moving my feet, and my hands, being ready for anything. we used to always play catch, and sometimes I would get destracted and miss the vall. he always told me to pay attentiong. kind of like in life you can geve up or get side tracked and one day something bad could happen. he also made me go outside and we ust to heit of and old pitching machine. But without technic it didn't do to much for me. he always seemed so interested in keeping me fit. my brother was the one guy I always looked up to. even when we got older he would make me run with him. one time he wanted me to push it so he made me run harder by telling me, he saw a skunk, or two, or three. The point is he was trying to be my motivation and he never stopped. the whole reason I play highschool baseball is, because hime and some of my friends talked me into it. now I push myself, because that is what keith thought me to do. Everyday I go and workout sometimes, two times a day. from all the experiences i had with keith, I learned how to push through the hard times, and to never give up. life is foull of these experiences it is what you get form that defines what kind of person you really are. not giving up can apply to anything that's why it is scuh a good life lesson, for instance i thought i could only write, maybe four hundred words, give or take twenty or thirty. But now I am sitting at just over six hundred. Because I won't give up and just stop writing it is something I was taught, since I was maybe eight years of age. When you apply it to me working out, it is almost a fact that you will not always want to, you might be tired or sore. But you get in there and you push through the pain and the fatigue, and you do what you have to, to get in shape and to stay in shape. let's face it we are Americans most of us are lazy or tired all the time, but you just do what you need, not because you want to, but because you have to. No one else will do it for you. if you push yourself everyday you can only get better, and once you realize that, you can get really far in life. no one gets what they want by having an attitude, like I don't wnat to do this, it is just to hard. Life is what you make it, so do your best and try your hardest.

They say that when life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade. but what if life never gives you lemons what then? It's a fact that life isn't always great that, not everyone will like you, but the fact of the matter is that you can change that, just like the most popular people that worked to get where they are and you can do the same. but you can't give up and you can't let other people get to you, you are who you are, let them deal with that, it's just not you problem. no I'm not a life coach or whatever there called I'm just a highschooler that can speak his mind.
